Sunny Monday!

Author: Ashley, Grade 7, Bloomington Lutheran School

Location: Savage, MN

Weather: Temperature 13.7°F, Feels Like 6°F, Pressure 30.40 in, Clouds Clear, Windchill 6°F, Dew Point 10°F, Wind 6.0 mph from NW, Humidity 85%.

This is a great start to the week! The rest of this week will be cloudy so I'll have to savor the sunlight! The animals seem so be still out because I have seen many squirrels and birds around here. Winter may be on its way, but with no snow, the animals may think that its summer!

Leaves Changing Color

Author: Josie, College Softmore, Bemidji State University

Location: Bemidji

Weather: Sunny.

The best part of fall is the leaves changing color. All the reds, yellows and oranges makes the world look like it’s on fire—getting ready for new growth coming in the spring. Its fun watching the squirrels run out from under the leaves on the ground like it’s a colorful quilt they’re playing hiding seek under.

First Frost

Author: Josie, College Softmore, Bemidji State University

Location: Bemidji

Weather: Clear skies, slight breeze.

The morning of the first frost I was in a hurry for school but as soon as I stepped outside I paused. The air was chilled but the birds were still singing. The grass was sparking with the sun hitting the frost on the ground. The year was crisp and smelled clean and fresh. The first frost is always my favorite morning.

First Snow Accumulation

Author: Josie, College Softmore, Bemidji State University

Location: The town of Bemidji

Weather: Snowing

Saturday October 27th, was this first noticeable snow accumulation. I was working a late night shift and the snow had been falling all night. When I left work there was inches on the ground and everything was quiet. The air was damp but not too cold. The braches were heavy with the snow but no animals were out and about.

Leaves

Author: Tyler, College Freshmen, Bemidji State University

Location: Bemidji, Minnesota

Weather: Light breeze, sunny

Oh how lovely northern Minnesota is in the Fall. The lush, green leaves on the trees slowly begin to change to the lovely mix of pink, orange, yellow and brown that make it so beautiful in the fall. As I was biking around town and down some trails, I couldn't help but admire the view of all of the trees encompassing the trail as I rode through. It is certainly a sight that a person living in a city would not get to see and truly enjoy like we do up north. It is definitely a perk to living up here and is a very pretty sight for anyone that takes the time to truly enjoy the wonders that nature has to offer as it makes it's transition into the Winter season.

The fall weather

Author: Dylan, College Freshmen, Bemidji State University

Location: Outside Oak hall

Weather: Sunny,slight breeze

I walked outside and instantly felt a change in the weather. It went from a hot, sticky day to a cool day with a slight breeze to it. Everywhere i look theres colors of bright orange, red, yellow, and green. The air feels so clean that puts you in a good mood. The grass changed from being tall strains of green to a flat light brown with a damp feeling. Black and brown squirrels roam the area collecting nuts and running up and down trees.

Bemidji State University

Author: Bikash, College Junior, Bemidji State University

Location: Bemidji, MN

Weather: Partly cloudy, 40 f

Sticking to previous entry it was clear all the trees around my area like maple, oak, elm all shredded their leaves and the same berry bearing plant still have the berries hanging on it but no leaves. May be because of continuous wetness and precipitation grass are more greener and seemed alive then the last observation. Still squirrel are running around and gathering acorn. There is no change in evergreen plants white pine and red pine.

Bemidji State University

whitetailatnightAuthor: Abigail, College Senior, Bemidji State University

Location: Wilton, MN

Weather: Cold-ish, maybe 35 degrees or so.

Action Project, Eyewitness Observation or Other Reflection I slept in my ground blind, and I woke up to hear many many things around me. I looked out the north facing peep hole, and couldn't see anything as it was still quite dark. I heard leaves crunching, snorting, walking, running, and the activity unfortunately subsided once the sun came up and I could shoot. The next few days will prove to be quite interesting!
