Yard Gardens

Author: Tia, Great River School

Location: Roseville

Weather: really windy, dry and chilly

The wind was causing the loose dirt and dead leaves to fly all over the place. The ground is so hard there are grooves in the soil. Spiders have their rocks surrounding the gardens. The plants are still green but they're slowly fading, some have snapped in the wind and have turned a brown/grayish tint.

Tree Phenology

Author: Lucy, Great River School

Location: East of Lake Como

Weather: Very cloudy, misty rain, 65 degrees F

This tree is about ten meters tall I think. It has thick rough bark and medium sized almond shaped leaves. The leaves are dark green with many holes probably because of some sort of insect, however there are no insects to be seen. There are a few clumps of yellow leaves through out the tree. It has very full branches and there are not many leaves on the ground.

Implications of Climate for Minnesotans

Author: Kaitlyn, MetroTech Career Academy

Location: Outside our school building in front

Weather: Temperature, about 55 degrees. Sunny.

Implications number 5 about Native species are very likely to face increasing threats from rapidly changing climate conditions, pests, diseases, and invasive species moving in from warmer regions affects me because birds eat off the bushes with the with berries on them. The berries have seeds in them and when they eat the berries they poop all the seeds out right away. So then they seeds spread everywhere and grow more of the bushes with berries.
